foreign corporation

foreign corporation
A corporation that is incorporated under the laws of a state different from the one in which it is doing business, or of another country. Such a corporation must file a notice of doing business in any state in which it does substantial regular business, and name an agent for acceptance of service in that state (a state's Secretary of State is sometimes the agent) so that customers or suppliers can bring legal actions locally.
